JCP&L Power Restoration Update
/PRNewswire/ -- Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE), continues to work around the clock to restore power following Friday evening's severe storms. Approximately 67,000 customers are without service, and the vast majority are expected to have power restored by Tuesday night, with most remaining customers expected to be in service by Wednesday night.
Since the storm, JCP&L has restored power to approximately 230,000 of the nearly 300,000 customers affected by the heat and storms of the past few days, which caused extensive damage, including hundreds of broken poles and downed wires.
Thousands of personnel, including outside support from FirstEnergy utilities and contractor partners, are engaged in the restoration effort.
We understand how challenging power outages can be for customers, especially during extreme heat, and we appreciate their patience as crews work to restore service safely. While you may not see JCP&L trucks in your immediate neighborhood, crews may be repairing damage on larger, high-voltage lines further up the grid that must be restored before service can be returned to homes and businesses in affected areas. In many cases, damage may be in multiple locations, and the problem affecting your service may be located some distance from your immediate community.
Estimated restoration times (ETRs) will be provided as damage assessments are completed and repair plans are finalized. Customers can view outage updates and ETR information at firstenergycorp.com/outages or through their online account.
JCP&L is coordinating closely with local officials, emergency management agencies and community leaders throughout the restoration effort.
Customers who are without power can report outages by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), texting OUT to 544487 or visiting firstenergycorp.com/outages.
